Welcome to Everything Allison!
As the name of this blog suggests, I'm Allison! I'm currently a Masters student at the University of Sheffield - where I also did my undergrad. My research interests primarily lie in theoretical syntax and the intersection between literature and linguistics.

My undergraduate dissertation combined these two interests by using generative syntactic theory to explore Dido, Queen of Carthage and Edward II, two plays by the Renaissance playwright Christopher Marlowe. I was primarily interested in clauses in both plays where the verb preceded the subject, for example:
‘That Earle of Lancaster do I abhorre’
I plan to continue researching this phenomenon for my Masters dissertation this year.

I started this blog in the summer between the second and third year of my undergraduate degree because I was working on a research project with Dr Robyn Orfitelli as part of the SURE scheme at the University. I have since continued that research on Spanish, as well as working on my own literary linguistic research on Marlowe.

This blog is intended as a way of detailing my progress academically, but often, I find myself writing about the non-academic aspects of my life.
