Once Again I Fail to Account for Life

I originally wrote a post to go up just before the festive period, however, much like my plans to blog through the final year of my degree, I just got wrapped up in life and completely forgot about it.
So, what have I been up to?
Much like the name of this blog, absolutely everything!
In terms of my dissertation, I've now handed in a research proposal, an annotated bibliography and begun searching my corpora for the data that I need. A lot of my work for the dissertation has been reading-based, but in the coming weeks, I'm actually going to start writing!
I'm really excited about what I'm getting to write about for my dissertation and can't wait to keep updating you as I progress with it through this second semester.

I've continued with the quizzing and have been to some more group tournaments, including British Novice 2022 in London. I'm really pleased with how I did as I ended the day on over 35ppg which is definitely the best I've ever done at a competition before.
Everyone we played against was really friendly but Warwick gets a special mention for being such a fun team to play against - good vibes all round!

Some of my favourite things from the day were seeing the Christmas lights in London and sharing a bottle of Buck's Fizz on the train back with the team.
I also helped moderate for a tournament that Sheffield co-hosted online with Durham which was fun. I only scored for the morning but it was really great to be involved!
This first semester definitely hasn't been the easiest, there have been times when I've really wanted to give up in all honesty. However, I'm really glad I stuck with things as it's 100% been worth it!
I'm friends with people now that I didn't even know a year ago and my best friend has finally moved to Sheffield after nearly three years of trying. We'll be living together from July and I'm so excited to move in with her after so long :D
In the words of Bridget Jones:
"Can't go back keep making same mistakes. Must keep moving forward and make new ones."
Here's to a 2023 full of new experiences and mistakes!
